Welcome To Pooch Parlour Box Hill
Leaving your pet for the first time with a stranger can be a very daunting experience for any pet owner, so here is a little bit about myself to hopefully reassure you.
I have been involved in the dog grooming industry since 1977. Learning my trade working in a boarding kennels and cattery for 26 years (18 years as a Manageress). Here, they also incorporated a dog grooming salon, where I gained a Merit after a three year dog grooming course.
In the 90’s I took over ownership of the grooming business, and several years later, when the fourth kennel owners chose to retire, I left the boarding sector and moved my business to where it is now, where I have been since 2003.
During my time at the kennels, I studied and received certificates in Small Animal Care, Dog Grooming to City & Guilds standard, Canine/Human Interface, Animal Bereavement Counseling, and finally went on to receive my Kennel Management Diploma. I am also a member of the Dog Groomers Association.
Sadly I can no longer manage the extra large breeds such as Bernese Mountain Dogs, Leonbergers, Great Dane's, Russian Black Terriers, St. Bernards's, Newfoundland's and dog's of similar size. Regrerettably, from April 2016, we stopped taking in NEW customers of SOME of the large breeds - example labradoodles (unless they have the Labrador coat) goldenoodles, Bearded Collies, Rough Collies, Old English Sheepdog's and dogs of this size with THIS TYPE of long coat. Nor are we taking on NEW customers of German Shepherds. Leaving those dogs to the younger generation. Those breeds already on my books, that I have seen within the last 12 months I will of course continue to do. This does NOT affect those customers. We are still taking on new customers of some large dog breeds, so if in doubt, please give us a call and we will see if we can help. If we cannot, we may know someone who can.

Our business hours are Mon - Sat 9am - 5pm
Please note I close every other Saturday and Monday and most Bank Holiday weekends.
I close some Thursday's.
We also close from the 23th December and re-open early January. I advise if you wish to call in, you ring first to make sure we are there to save a wasted journey. If we finish early, we will close early. Should you leave a message on my answerphone please remember to leave your telephone number, so I can ring you back. Sometimes technology does go wrong, so if you do not hear from us please try again. Your message may not have come through.
I have free booklets called "Questions to the Groomer". These are questions that have been asked by customers over the years. They give you a good idea how I work. We also have various advice leaflets.
